my last 24 hours

And here I am, surrounded by the mess I've created in my room, ha ha. I have less than 24 hours left in Sg.

A few hours ago, I said goodbye to my grandma. I promised her that I would study hard. She looked really sad to see me go.

I'm so reluctant to leave. I'm pretty happy in sg. I have a great family, fantastic friends, and someone i like. Going away for this one year puts me in a very big debt, and I don't even know the outcome of it, where I will be next year.

I know what I want now, and will work towards it. But what if I fail? Think Durkheim's Anomie. There's so much uncertainty.

Oh well. One year will pass very fast, right? And nothing drastic would have changed when I return, right?

my darlings

Had dinner with my girlfriends from JC. Geez, it's been 7 years since we've known each other. And we've all changed bfs from when we first met to now. hahha!!
But in between all the guys, and the different routes in life that we have taken, we are still all the same people within.
I'm glad to say all 3 of them have very very stable relationships now, like >1 year (yea, i'm the only one still bumming around) . In fact, When we met on Thurs, the first question asked around was "so, when you getting married?"

Oh well. BFF!

last few days

I've been insanely busy lately, saying goodbyes. Aw, comeon, I'm coming back next year laH!!!!

I never knew I had so many friends, and never knew so many friends wanted to see me go. hahahaha. I'm very touched, everybody!

Some pictures:

Had drinks with my uni friends at Timber on Tues. The guys also dedicated a song to me, AWWWWWWWWW.

And they gave me 3 photo montages of pictures taken from our young days in year 2 till ... today. I was so so so so touched! I never imagined a bunch of ME guys being soooooo sweeet!

Who needs boyfriends when you have such fantastic boy friends?

I also had lunch with my grandma and grandaunts at the newly renovated Lei Garden.

The world's most awesome eggtarts!!!

**

I just returned my grad gown today. I had a friend who bought it, and said he wanted to wear it for halloween this year. He is going to be the "unemployed graduate!"

Another good halloween costume would involve a donation tin and teenager-ish clothes with a handful of stickers. :P

wakeboarding

I managed to find a victim to try out wakeboarding with me on Thurs. As I am writing this, my arms still ache a great deal (it's Sunday today).

Our wakeboard place was at East Coast park

There is an inland wakeboarding place. We went in the afternoon, hoping there would be less people so that not so malu when we fall into the water. We were wrong; all the wakeboarders were angmohs, and they were flipping around and doing stunts.

We underestimated the difficulty of it until we got there and started seeing people do the real thing in real life. And we hesitated for awhile about trying it out, but since we were there, we just went ahead.

It cost $32 per hour on weekdays, 27 for *ahem* us students. My friend (who is a guy) wanted to be man, so he took the wakeboard immediately. I took the kneeboard, which is much easier to balance on since your COG (center of gravity) is lower.

That's me looking very pro. It's really not easy and VERY taxing on the arms. By my 4th round, I had to depend on mental motivation to get me through. I did 7 rounds in total in the 1 hour, and trust me, 1 hour is more than enough for noobs. My friend, who ke kiang go take the board, kept falling off after a few meters.

Oh, and we drank loads of seawater. Yum. When I got home, my arms hurt so bad that taking off my shirt took a lot of strength.

It was a very different experience, and I won't mind going to do it again, this time with the real board (I just need a LOT more guts).

henderson waves

My dad took half day off and brought my sister, my bro and I to walk from Harbourfront (my mom dropped us off) all the way home.

The start.

The view from Mt Faber.

Dad, sis and bro wearing 'traffic light' colours. This was not planned.

Henderson waves. My dad kept reminding my brother that this is his commando preparation (yeah, my bro got selected to go for commando selections).

Cutting through a field from hortpark to kentridge park. My dream house is there, at bagdad street.

The whole journey took 3 hours. I think it was around 10km, and it wasn't easy at all. My sister power; she had badminton training in the morning, and could still finish the walk. In fact, her mouth was constantly moving throughout the walk, that noise box of ours. I don't know how she did it.

Ok, the very short post is due to 1)the fact that I'm STILL recovering, one day later, and 2) I'm watching Schindler's list. :D

pulau ubin

Ok, just another of my craaazy adventures.

Today, I dragged a friend (or you can say, a victim) over to pulau ubin- one of the places I had to visit before I leave. This friend of mine is an acturial science student from the uni i'm going to.

I had to lift my heavy and unwilling ass off my bed at 630am, and reached Tanah Merah MRT station at 845am. Took bus 2 to Changi point. (I know, there are other BETTER and faster ways of getting there.)

Boat ride cost 2,50 and takes 20 minutes.

Welcomeee to ubin!

The fastest way to get around Ubin is to rent bicycles. We rented mountain bikes for 10 bucks for the whole day. We also picked up a lock (you gotta lock your bike if you plan to go to chek jawa).
Unfortunately, because I have a huge ass, my seat was a tad bit too small, and now I am suffering from butt aches. My friend had no problem.

We headed to the east side first, towards chek jawa.

View from a viewing tower.

Mangroves, lots and lots of them in pulau ubin.

Chek Jawa was quite a let down, because we went during high tide (we were there around 11am). Low tide is during early morning and evening. That's when you really can see things.

Quarry.

After the east, we went over to the north. Nothing much there, just some camp sites.

We headed back to the jetty area for lunch, then set out again, this time to the west side!

The west site is more challenging. There is this bicycle trail park, which 'got kick'.

Very empty place, with bushes instead of tall trees.

It's a very very nice quiet and HUGE place. The trail is also not easy. We took the blue trail- the easiest. We had to cycle through mud, and got our bikes stuck in the mud. Real dirt biking.

There is also a small 'dirt/stunt bike trail' which my crazy friend and I took. It's not easy! I almost got flung out of my bike a few times. I keep reminding my friend that I have NO INSURANCE, so we have to try to minimize crazy stunts like that.

Our bikes.

Little hut. If anyone really wants adventure in Pulau Ubin, I would highly recommend this route. Skip the east and north routes, and go straight to the bike trail in the west side. You will get a good bum massage, and lots of mud and dirt on your legs. Oh, and this side has no mosquitoes.

We stopped by a resort on the way back (yes, there is a resort!) to *ahem* clean our feet.

Yeeeah. Since there was nobody, we managed to haggle the price down to $15 for 2 people, and we were there for 1 hour. :D The fishes ate up my mud, my sunblock, and my mosquito repellent. I hope they didn't get tummy ache.

The famous drink hut.

Some 7th month thing going on on ubin.

I got home at 6ish, totally shagged, tired, very sun burnt and smelly. My friend somehow still had the energy to see me home, then head over to the gym. Power.

Last week I was hiking at bukit timah with another guy, and I out-hiked him. At the end of the hike, he looked at me and said "you don't pant, you don't sweat, ARE you human?!".
This week it was my turn to ask this crazy guy "are you human?!".

Ok I had loads of fun. And this concludes this post. Next week I'm planning to bring my siblings to do some prawning. I am also planning to do some wake boarding with friends. Hope the weather permits.

KL day 3

My last day in KL wasn't very eventful. My friends had to work, hence I spent the whole day bumming around in the shopping mall. I bought a LBD.

We had cheese fondue for dinner. It's amazing that I never had cheese fondue in France; only had it for the first time here, in KL.

I took a bus back to sunny sg the next day. And the first thing when I got pass immigration into sg was:

majulah singapuraa! :D

Ok the reason why i haven't been updating so often is becausseeee... I have been busy (yeah right).

What have I been up to? I have been crashing lectures. YES, crashing lectures. I have crashed:
history of SE Asia ( I left halfway because they were talking about 9-13th century Angkor history
international history (Was talking about colonization)
Discrete Optimization (no idea what was happening)
Film and Histry (I loved this one; we watched a clint eastwood film on monday)
OR (pretty easy).

And guess who I bumped into during one of the FASS modules I crashed? This guy whom I dated in JC. I haven't spoken or seen him since we broke up 6 years ago. Why did we break up? I think he thought we were too different. Aynway, he looks the same, just darker, happier, and I guess on the whole, better. Good for him.

And as I am writing this post, we are chatting on MSN. The last time we talked to each other was when we broke up, and there was so much hatred after (you see, we were just little kids then). After which, I blocked him on my msn for 6 years!

I must say, time does heals many wounds. Right Now, we are catching up on 6 lost years. 6 years, and so many things have happened around us/to us. Incredible.

Amazingly, somehow we are still the same people within. Some fundamentals never change. Like how he is still constantly surrounded by pretty girls, and how I'm STILL persuing 1001 things at the same time. :)
